      COVID-19 continues to impact us and the reality is, it’s not going away any time soon.

      6 months ago, our world got turned upside down and left us all reacting and doing what we could to just figure things out. We all had to pivot and change the way things have been done.

      We all learned what worked before, is not going to work now and we need to think about things differently.

      Keep in mind, what worked before, doesn’t work now!

      We understand what you are going through because we are going through it too. There are so many stresses right now and uncertainty, including our latest hurdle – sending our kids back to school or not!

      Most schools have started, or are about to start, and that brings a whole new stress that we need to consider.

      I’m sure you have given some thought to what you will do if an employee tests positive for COVID-19... but what is your plan if they have a family member who needs to self-isolate? Or what if they need to take a leave of absence to take care of an ill family member? Are you prepared to handle this within your office for 2 or more weeks?

      Now, have you given any thought to what happens if YOU, the practitioner, gets sick or your child gets sick, and you need to self-isolate for 2 weeks? What is going to happen to your office and your team?

      What is your contingency plan?

      Have you given any thought to what you will do if this happens? Do you have a temporary layoff clause in effect? These changes need to be reflected in your employee agreement and employee handbook.

      What is the cost of not being prepared?

      Without a temporary layoff clause in effect, you will likely be required to continue to pay your staff while you are away on quarantine. On average, it will cost you $20,000 in employee wages that you still have to pay PLUS the cost of lost production! Now, that’s a tough pill to swallow. And that is under the assumption that you will be back to full operations in 2 weeks!

      What will you do if you become hospitalized?

      By taking the right, proactive, measures now, you can create much more certainty that you will have an office to come back to when you reopen!
