      A 12-week course designed to give managers the basic tools to handle numerous HR situations such as interviewing, orientation, discrimination, discipline, and termination. 

      Health & Safety

      A 10-week course designed to understand how an Occupational Health & Safety management system should be designed and implemented in your practice.

      Health & Safety in the Workplace

      Our second course will review all of the requirements and will be able to take part in the implementation, improvement, administration, or audit of an occupational health and safety management system. The total hours of training time is an estimated 24 hours plus 4 (1 hour) instructor-led study groups.

      • What is Occupational Health & Safety

        The health and safety of your employees have never been more important. Employees have a right to work at a safe and healthy promoting worksite. Does your dental practice align and comply with the requirements of your provincial and federal OHS legislation? 

      • Sexual Harassment Prevention

        The topics that will be covered in this course will provide a comprehensive explanation of what sexual harassment is, how to recognize sexual harassment in the workplace, what to do when it occurs, and how protect yourself and employees from this type of behavior. This training is a requirement for federally regulated organizations – it's time to level up and provide your team with the gold star standards of training.  

      • Workplace violence and bullying

        The topics that will be covered in this course will provide any employee a comprehensive explanation of what workplace violence and harassment is (including bullying and cyberbullying), how to recognize these instances in the workplace, what to do when it occurs and how to protect yourself and your team from these situations.   

      • Conflict De-escalation

        This module reviews how to effectively address, de-escalate conflicts, and mediate tense situations that may arise within your dental practice. We will focus on identifying cues that commonly lead up to conflict and different communication strategies that have proven successful in de-escalating tensions and conflict that take place within a dental office. 

      • Respectful Workplace Training

        One of the biggest employee complaints received within a dental office usually stems down to a lack of respect apparent within the workplace. This module will focus on creating clear, mutually beneficial expectations of what a respectful workplace looks like and provide strategies on how to encourage respectful behaviors from your team members.  

      • Emergency procedures and protocols

        The module will review three levels of emergency management that need to be present within a dental office. First, we must plan for emergencies by having clear documentation and protocols in place for emergency situations. Secondly, we must have leadership in a time of emergency. This means that the appropriate parties must be trained and well versed in their role during an emergency. Thirdly, we will review what training is required on an annual basis for your team to ensure that you remain compliant with training requirements while also assuring your due diligence is up to standards in case an emergency ever did take place within your office.  

      • Workplace Injuries

        In this module you will learn how to identify, act, document, and investigate workplace illnesses and injuries. All four of these steps are vital to the continued success of a dental practice after an employee gets hurt on the job. This module will also review how to create your own return to work program so that you can feel comfortable accommodating your employee back to work during their injury recovery.  

      • Accommodations & Undue Hardship

        This module will define what accommodations and undue hardship are, and what this means for a dental practice. Practice owners and management are told consistently that employees have a right to be accommodated up to the point of undue hardship...but what does that truly mean? This module will help you to strategize and create a plan where you can accommodate employees up to the point of undue hardship. 

      • COVID-19 Changes to the Workplace

        This module will provide an in depth understanding of the risks associated with COVID-19 in the workplace, how to manage the risk of COVID-19 by choosing the right control measures, and a step-by-step guide on how to carry out a COVID-19 risk assessment and how to build your COVID-19 Safety and Exposure Response Plan. The COVID-19 Safety and Exposure Response Plan is a requirement for your office to stay opened during the COVID-19 Global Pandemic. Ensure that you are not at risk of being shut down or investigated because your plan is either incomplete or non-existent. 

      • OHS Reporting Procedures  

        Unfortunately, sometimes accidents do happen, no matter how hard we try to prevent them. This module will provide an overview of what OHS reporting requirements are, how to report OHS issues, what the investigation protocol looks like, and what your follow-up or next steps would likely be after an accident. Understanding your reporting requirements is a key piece of staying compliant with your OHS statutory requirements.

      This course is delivered in an online learning environment where participants are immersed in a virtual classroom setting; videos, assignments, and quizzes will be assigned, and a record of completion will be provided with a successful passing grade at the end of this 12-week program.   
      Each module will take roughly 2-3 hours each. With 10 modules, the total training time is 24 to 26 hours plus 4 (1 hour/each) instructor-led study groups. 
      The course curriculum can be accessed and completed at a time convenient to your schedule. The 4 instructor-led bi-monthly study groups will be done late in the afternoon/early evening.

      Stream Dental HR will include all required training materials.

      HR Management Bootcamp

      The premise of this 12-week program is to help empower office managers to effectively lead your team and business to success by using sustainable systems for growth and retention within your practice. The total hours of training time is an estimated 24 hours plus 4 (1 hour) instructor-led study groups.

      An overview of the employee and organization life cycle, how to manage your human capital, the role of an HR manager, and why it’s important to have HR strategies for growth. You need to know and understand what HR is before you begin to implement them in your practice.

       People Management 101

      Being an office manager entails leading a team which inevitably requires different management styles. This module discusses how to set yourself up for success to influence, motivate, inspire, and communicate effectively so you can lead your team to greatness.

       Performance Management

      You will learn the key factors in the development of HR and people management which includes progressive discipline, goal setting, performance improvement plans, and different measures or metrics that can be used to measure people's performance.

       Compensation & Benefits

      To attract and retain top talent, it's crucial to get compensation and benefits structured correctly. When employees feel that they're paid fairly for what they do, there's a greater incentive for them to excel in the workplace. This module provides an overview of the strategic choices that employers must make when developing pay structures, incentive plans, and benefit offerings. As well, you will learn how to develop and implement proper policies to prevent possible future legal issues.

      There are times when employees may become disgruntled or an issue arises between team members. These uncomfortable situations need to be handled carefully. This module reviews what you need to do to resolve these issues while protecting the best interests of both the practice and the employees involved.

      This module explores best practices as it relates to recruiting and hiring top talent for your practice including; how to create strategic interview questions, what key attributes to look for in prospective candidates, and how to conduct effective interviews & skills assessments without creating conditions of implicit offerings or agreements. ..

      Onboarding & Probationary Period

      The negative impacts of a bad hire can be detrimental to your business, overall team dynamics, and patient care capabilities. This module reviews best practices in order to provide effective orientation, onboarding, training & development during the first day, week, and month of a new hire’s employment with your practice.

      Training & Development 

      Now that you have successfully onboarded your new hire your training doesn’t stop here. Employee training and development is a process that continues forwards for the remainder of an employee’s career. The best offices follow monthly and annual training sessions to emphasize the importance of ongoing employee development through their entire employment lifecycle at your office.

      Termination & Offboarding 

      The objective of this training session is to teach you key information about the termination process so that when you must terminate an employee, you can do so effectively and legally. We will walk through the differences between terminations with and without cause, how to properly accept resignations, and how to navigate the difficult terrain of organization restructuring and permanent or temporary layoffs.

        Although the Canada job grant is only for the businesses and employees that operate and reside in Canada, this course is open to anyone in the USA interested in learning more about HR. We will have a separate course content that covers USA employment legislation. 
        At this time, the Health & Safety program will only be available for practices in Canada.

        Eligibility criteria, reimbursement, and application process vary from province to province.
